Dyno VIDEO

Here is a snippet...

Dyno results!

(Click on pic to enlarge....)
We took the car to PDX Tuning last night for a baseline dyno run and preliminary tune. The baseline pull with a totally stock configuration, heck only 198 miles on the odo was:

246 hp at the wheels and 278 lb/ft of torque at about 3300 rpm.

After Jarrad's magic tune, it pulled down 278 hp and 319 lb/ft torque at about 3200rpm

Primitive STi Update #2

Hi guys!
This is update #2 on Primitive Racing's new 2008 Subaru STi Rally Car.
We now have some of the required graphics on the car and will put on the DYNO and have it tuned next Tuesday. Preliminary figures show that we will hit 275-290 hp and 347-355 lb/ft of torque AT THE WHEELS before the required turbo restrictor goes in. That will cut the top end power substantially, but we hope to retain much of the bottom end torque with tuning of the exhaust AVCS system. We will also be able to tune different BOOST profiles for each of Subaru's I-Drive settings, which will be great for slick conditions and transits.
Car then goes to Streben Racing for the carbon fiber racing seats to be mounted and then an FIA compliant rollcage to be installed, that should be completed by about March 1st. We will also get a 3" custom exhaust, split at the end with 2 small race cats to substitute for the mufflers, retaining the twin pipe look in the back and getting the car loud enough to be heard by the spectators for safety.
There will be a "work party" the weekend of March 15-16th to get lots of misc done on the car. (Fire system, underbody protection, harnesses, intercom, odo, gauges, etc) More on that later.
I am working on suspension and tire sources. I got the quote for 4 Ohlins full Group N spec struts and 2 spares from Prodrive, but at $18K I think I will have to look for another option... I have already acquired eight 17" rims and eight light duty tires that will work for light gravel and mixed tarmac/gravel. I have attempted to contact Pirelli to see what they may have available. Also looking to contact Cooper for their Weathermasters like the ones we are taking on the Alcan Rally in a few days. www.writerguy.com/primitive/alcan.htm
Target launch date is the 2008 Olympus Rally, April 18-20th... (if not, then Oregon Trail in mid-May). We did win the 2007 Rally America Northwest Regional Championship (thank you all!) and are working on a new championship poster to celebrate that.
